Horse Trials at Borde Hill Parkland 29th & 30th May 2021

Event designed in a Covid safe environment

Borde Hill is pleased to welcome the return of British Eventing on the May Bank Holiday weekend, with the historic parkland welcoming competitors and spectators on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th May.

Last year British Eventing organised a ‘behind closed doors’ competition whereby no spectators were admitted due to the pandemic. This year British Eventing government approved Protocol have given permission to welcome spectators once again by pre-booked admission ticket to maintain safe visitor numbers.

Set in a Grade II* listed parkland, spectators can enjoy watching over 250 rider and horse combinations each day, as three phases of competition unfold.  Watch the elegance of dressage, the accuracy of show jumping and the speed and boldness of cross country, where competitors accrue penalties and the rider with the lowest score wins! Horses need to be talented and accurate for the first two phases before their bravery and confidence it tested over a course of imposing fixed jumps. Enjoy watching professional riders compete against up-and-coming locals at different levels throughout the weekend.

With all the thrills of watching the skill of the horses and riders, why not take a break with a coffee or cold drink at the Harveys Beer and Prosecco Bar, then enjoy a bite to eat before browsing the equine related stalls.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on short leads, and children and dogs much be supervised at all times as horses will be travelling at speed!

The Horse Trials will be open to spectators between 9am and 5.30pm and tickets are £5 per adult, under 16s free of charge if accompanied by an adult.  Tickets will be restricted and must be pre-booked online at www.bordehillhorsetrials.com

Why not make a whole day of it and enjoy a visit to Borde Hill Garden.  There is plenty to see from deciduous azaleas, rhododendrons, peonies, summer magnolias, davidias plus the ‘Form in Nature’ sculpture exhibition featuring over 80 pieces of art.  Pre-book Garden tickets at  www.bordehill.co.uk/bookyourvisit
