Honest Burgers head to the beach, popping up at Brighton’s Fortune of War pub this summer

28 June sees the launch of a special Honest Burgers pop-up at Laine’s beachfront pub the Fortune of War. Just in time for the great British summer, Honest are taking over the kitchens and serving up their great British burgers, a perfect accompaniment to pints on the beach from local favourites, Laine Brew Co.

Honest and Laine have collaborated to create the BRIGHTON BEACH burger. The limited edition, and exclusive to the pop-up burger comprises a classic Honest beef patty, topped with salted caramel beer candied bacon, Oak Smoked Mayfield cheese, shoestring fries, garlic mayo and a pickleback slaw. The burger comes in at £13.50 with Honest’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips included in the price.

The beer candied bacon is made with EAT MORE BUTTONS, a 7.1% salted caramel stout that is a collab in itself between Laine and south London’s Mondo Brewing Company. The beer has notes of sea salt, chocolate and roasted caramel from the complex malt bill, which adds a rich flavour to the bacon and burger build, and will also be available to drink at the pop-up.

Having opened its doors back in 1882, the Fortune of War is the oldest watering hole on the seafront at Brighton and the only pub located directly on the beach. Known across the city for its huge beer garden that leads on to Brighton beach and for its distinctive, upside down boat shape, the Fortune of War is the perfect spot this summer, to experience a slice of sun, unparalleled views of the ocean and a fun, Brighton atmosphere.

Nathan Takoor, restaurateur at Honest Burgers Brighton, said “Laine makes our ‘Burger Beer’ house lager and supplies our Duke St restaurant too, so we’ve become good friends over the last year. We’ve been looking to reach new areas of Brighton with our great British burgers and Laine has a really vibey pub on the beachfront that’s been crying out for good food. Burgers and beers on the beach – it’s going to be hard to beat this summer.”

Dan Hills, Managing Director at Laine Pub Company, said “We’re delighted to be launching another exciting new partnership with Honest Burgers. After the success of Laine Brew Co’s Burger Beer collaboration, we can’t wait to invite Honest Burgers into one of our most iconic Brighton pubs. Just like us, they started in Brighton and are a company who share a similar ethos to us, always putting the customer at the heart of everything they do. This summer you can order an Honest Burger and a pint of Burger Beer on the beach in Brighton at The Fortune of War.”

Honest Burgers are popping up at the Fortune of War pub from 28 June until the end of summer.
